Winter may be a quiet time for some boaties in regard to their routine maintenance but for the Mystery project there is considerable activity. This impressive Swan 112 , which weighs in dry at 110 tons, is in the care of TOG Marine Painters who are carrying out a full exterior repaint while much of the electronics and mechanicals are also being upgraded. Gulf Harbour Travel Lift and Brin Wilson Boatbuilders also separated the keel for keel bolt inspection and servicing of the fabricated steel spacer or “can”. The extensive list of servicing and upgrades is due for completion August/September.  Click here to see some impressive shots.

Also this month we have welcomed back one of our regulars, the 28 metre motor cruiser Lannikai, in for annual servicing. Lannikai will be heading offshore when this service is completed. There are a number of interesting projects taking place around the hardstand with Brin Wilson Boatbuilders still finding demand for retro fitted bow thrusters and a number of insurance projects resulting from boat versus rocks!

The new Marine Travelift 35 ton machine is now fully commissioned and running very well. Being considerably higher than it’s predecessor will mean that most of the larger vessels that the machine lifts will be able to leave forestays and backstays in place which will save considerable time and in some cases money.

OG Marine Painters have now launched their Winter antifoul specials for the season, offering attractive pricing for a range of different antifouls up until 31st August 2007. These specials are worth taking advantage of and of course you will avoid the rush that inevitably occurs from October on.

Osmosis Solutions are also snowed under with full bottom replacement jobs for local and overseas vessels and both Seaquip and Gulf Harbour Rigging are offering incentives to boat owners to carry out their regular servicing before the season starts - not as it starts. Seaquip have a very good battery check and upgrade deal and the Riggers are offering a 50% discount on rig checks. Rig checks are something that are usually brushed to one side but, as one recent overseas visitor found, Phil and Rob’s rig check probably saved a mast and a lot of inconvenience drifting around mid Pacific.

No matter what your boating requirement you will get the job done properly and cost effectively in the Gulf Harbour Marine Centre.
